The local ranchers are afraid to bring in the horses they have left, the griffons have taken so many. I thought I caught sight of one on this street just yesterday!' 37. NPC -- 'What good is having my new forge if its not safe to go out to the local ranches? Every week, every month it just gets worse and worse, with more monsters everywhere! I think the trolls have a hiding place nearby to the west, judging by all the attacks there. Maybe they're planning to lay siege to the city...What will we do then? Move to Waterdeep?' 38. The heavily scarred walls of this small arena tell you that many great battles must have taken place here. 39. NPC -- The proprietor sighs. 'I was hoping you were bringing horses here to board. At first it was the griffon raids that hurt our business, but now the road to the north is cursed with attacks by bands of undead monsters! I think there is some evil power there commanding them. Ther're a group of spies, thieves and assassins and their symbol is a purple squid. They've always had a small base of operations near here, but we haven't known where. No one wanted to know, really ...Their real targets lie in Waterdeep and Silverymoon, and to know the Krakens is to know too much. But now...the griffon attacks, the raids by undead monsters, the many dark caravans passing through the town by night...I pray you find a way to help us! May Tyr protect you and bring balance and order to our world' 43. You wonder who could have secreted this area so close to the Lord Protector's estate. 44.
